Why now
Software engineering is under pressure from two directions at once. AI is changing how teams work faster than most organisations can govern it — agent usage spreads ad hoc, and practice doesn't keep pace.
At the same time, the EU's Cyber Resilience Act, NIS2, and GDPR are turning what used to be internal engineering hygiene into legal obligation: secure-by-design development, vulnerability handling, incident reporting, and data protection now come with real deadlines and real penalties, not just good intentions.
Standing still isn't neutral anymore. Closing that gap — before it becomes a liability — is the work.
